STEPHEN ETNIER

1903 – 1984

For most of the last decade of his life, Stephen Etnier considered Frost Gully Gallery his primary gallery. His work received long deserved recognition when the Portland Museum recently mounted a major retrospective of his life and art. Etnier enjoyed a long and illustrious career. Few artists have engendered the passion among collectors for their paintings that Etnier has. While there are few paintings remaining in the artist’s estate, we do come across an occasional first rate Etnier like “Black Boulder” on the secondary market.
